The annual “Karthika Brahmotsavams” will begin on from Monday (November 17, 2205) at Tiruchanur Sri Padmavati Ammavari temple. As a prelude, “Laksha Kumkumarchana” was performed at the temple with religious fervour on Sunday (November 16). This has become an annual practice as the priests seek the blessings of the Goddess to ensure a successful conduct of all religious events pertaining to the Brahmotsavams.

Vermilion (kumkum) is not only considered a sacred offering to the Goddess, but also as a symbol of feminine energy and is associated with the goddesses Lakshmi, Saraswati and Parvati, the priests announced while launching the event.

The event was performed from 8 a.m. till 12 noon on Sunday, where the idol of the Goddess was seated on a pedestal and kumkum was offered in accordance with the Agama traditions. Women participated in large numbers in the event and sought Her blessings.

Deputy Executive Officer Harindranath, Pancharatra Agama advisor Manikantha Bhattar, priest Babu Swamy and others took part.

Meanwhile, the TTD’s engineering department tastefully decorated the temple and its precincts. The illumination with LED lighting as well as the floral decoration with a variety of exotic flowers added grandeur to the temple ahead of the nine-day festival.
