The CPI demanded a CBI probe into the alleged kidney racket case which shook Madanapalle in Annamayya district following the death of a 29-year-old woman from Visakhapatnam. The incident came to light on November 12, three days after the victim’s death, following a police complaint lodged by her mother in Tirupati.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the CPI Annamayya district secretary T. Krishnappa alleged that the network may extend across Andhra Pradesh and beyond. He said that the victim, Yamuna, was reportedly brought to Madanapalle under false pretence of a job opportunity, but was forced to undergo a surgery at Global Multi Specialty Hospitals.

The CPI leader said that it was in the hospital where the surgery happened, leading to her death. Her body was kept hidden for two days, raising suspicion over the hospital’s role, he claimed.

Mr. Krishnappa alleged that organised groups were targeting poor families in rural and urban slum pockets, luring them with money and forcing them into illegal kidney removal. He named several suspected operatives linked to the racket, warning that a larger network may be supplying organs to dialysis centres and affluent renal-failure patients.

He demanded that three years of CCTV footage, surgery records, and patient histories be seized from the hospital without delay. He further expressed serious concern about the influence of a senior district medical officer named in the FIR, fearing that local inquiries could be manipulated to weaken the case.
