The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested an Agriculture Extension Officer from Mahabubabad district for accepting ₹10,000 bribe from a farmer in exchange for processing compensation documents.

According to ACB officials, the accused officer, G. Sandeep, 29, was posted at the office of the Mandal Agriculture Officer in Aenpuram village of Marripeda mandal. He was apprehended by the ACB Warangal Range team at a bakery in Marripeda while accepting the bribe amount from a complainant.

Investigators said Sandeep demanded the money to process a Rythu Bima compensation file belonging to the complainant’s father and to forward it for approval by higher officials. The tainted money was recovered from his possession after the trap.

He was taken into custody and produced before the special court for ACB cases in Warangal. The case is under investigation, and officials have withheld the complainant’s identity for security reasons.

Meanwhile, the ACB urged people to report any demand for bribes by government officials on its toll-free number 1064 or through its official social media channels. Authorities assured that the names and details of complainants will be kept confidential.
