A Class 9 student of Vedavalli Vidyalaya NPS Senior Secondary School in Ranipet has won a gold medal at the State-level martial arts and traditional sports competition held in Salem.

According to a press release, S.G. Roshini won the gold medal for her exemplary demonstration of skill and prowess in silambam, veI kambu and deer horn fight as part of the competition. She will represent Tamil Nadu at the National Martial Arts Competition that will be held in Goa later this month. She has been learning traditional martial arts on the school campus for the past five years. The school correspondent and trustee, Vidya Sampath, highlighted Roshini’s undeterred focus to learn the art and to put in hours of practice. The school principal K. Sheela was also present on the occasion, the release said.
