BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran on Tuesday hit out at the DMK government over the recent alleged gang rape of a college girl near Coimbatore International Airport. He alleged the “incapable administration” of the ruling party had led to a breakdown of law and order in Tamil Nadu.

In a post on X, Mr. Nagenthran said crimes were increasing under the DMK government. “By merely shooting and catching the accused, what is the use? Can it remove the fear that has gripped the minds of the people? Or can the Chief Minister at least guarantee that such an incident will never happen again?” he asked.

“How did these criminals get the audacity to gang-rape a woman near an international airport in a major city? In a case that has shaken the entire country, how did the accused believe that they could escape by hiding? The illegal liquor shop operating near the crime scene was one of the reasons that led to this horrific act. Why did this government fail to take action against that shop all these days?” he questioned.

Meanwhile, the party’s State unit on Tuesday organised a State-level training programme for booth-level agents in Chennai. BJP’s national vice-president and election in-charge for Tamil Nadu Baijayant Panda, national co-incharge P. Sudhakar Reddy, Mr. Nagenthran and senior leaders of the party participated. They discussed with booth-level agents the methods to strengthen the party’s organisation at the grassroots level and prepare for the upcoming elections.
