Five youth were injured, two of them seriously, during a fight between two groups in Belagavi on Saturday night.
The injured have been identified as Gurunath Vakkund, Sachin Kamble, Nazeer Pathan, Lokesh Betageri, and Mahesh Sunkad. They have been admitted to the hospital. Doctors told the police they were recovering. Four of them received stab injuries while one suffered a head injury.
The incident occurred near Laxmi complex in Sadashiv Nagar. Police rushed the injured to hospital. The youth were dancing to the tunes of songs as part of Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations. The injured reportedly told the police they were injured when they intervened to stop a group fight.
Borase Bhushan Gulabrao, Police Commissioner visited the hospital. He said that investigators were studying CCTV footage of the area. A case has been registered.
