Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday (November 1, 2025) launched several government initiatives, including new ‘108’ ambulance services, inaugurated infrastructure projects across various districts, and handed over appointment orders to government recruits at the Secretariat in Chennai.

The Chief Minister flagged off 87 new ‘108’ ambulances worth ₹18.9 crore for public use. These ambulance services were launched by the Department of Health and Family Welfare. At present, a total of 1,353 ‘108’ ambulances are being operated across the State to provide quick and accessible medical assistance during emergencies. These include 977 basic life-support ambulances, 307 advanced life-support ambulances, and 65 neonatal ambulances, according to an official press release.

Since May 2021, a total of 85,98,054 people, including pregnant women, accident victims, and others requiring emergency medical care, have benefitted from the ‘108’ ambulance services. In addition, 1,61,688 people have benefitted from the two-wheeler ambulance service and 95,119 from neonatal services. There are 4,30,697 beneficiaries from tribal areas, the release said.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated road works executed by the Highways Department in Erode, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Tiruvallur, Tirunelveli, Ariyalur, and Madurai districts at a total cost of ₹1,177.15 crore. He also inaugurated two road overbridges constructed across railway level crossings at a cost of ₹71.09 crore in Vellore district.

Mr. Stalin handed over appointment orders to 36 candidates selected as Technical Assistants (Civil) in the Tamil Nadu Housing Board and to 24 candidates selected as Surveyors/Assistant Draftsmen in the Directorate of Town and Country Planning through the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.

He also handed over orders for allocation of land and establishment of burial grounds for Christians in Virudhunagar, Theni, Ramanathapuram, Tiruvallur, Perambalur, and Sivaganga districts, and for Muslims in Virudhunagar, Theni, Tiruvallur, Perambalur, and Sivaganga districts.

The Chief Minister also released a book titled ‘Siri Siri Crazy,’ a compilation of plays written by the late ‘Crazy’ Mohan. Actor and Rajya Sabha member Kamal Haasan received the first copy. Another book titled ‘Kalaignar Nadagangal,’ a compilation of plays written by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and edited by Murugesa Pandian, was also released by the Chief Minister. The first copy was received by CPI leader R. Mutharasan.
