Chennai:

The Tamil Nadu State Commission for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes on Wednesday honoured Karthika, who was part of the Indian team that clinched a gold medal in kabaddi at the 3rd Asian Youth Games. Justice S. Tamilvanan, Chairperson of the commission, said Karthika should scale new heights and aspire to be like P.T. Usha. Vice-president of the commission and writer Imayam said hard work alone leads to success, and other factors such as social and economic status were secondary. He added that the Tamilnadu Adi Dravidar Housing Development Corporation was constructing a kabaddi training centre at Kannagi Nagar in Chennai, Karthika’s native place. “She should play for India in the Olympic Games and win a gold medal,” he said.
