Chief Secretary and Special CS (Energy) K. Vijayanand praised the Electricity department staff for their commendable services in ensuring power supply to the public during cyclone Montha by overcoming adverse conditions with efficiency.

According to the CS, the DISCOMs incurred a loss of nearly ₹17.84 crore on account of damages to their infrastructure.

He stated in a press release that over 11,000 employees from various cadres were deployed in the affected areas to prevent interruptions to electricity supply.

He said that alternative arrangements were made to ensure continuous supply to the public wherever there were obstacles to power restoration, and mentioned that 100% restoration of electricity supply would be completed by October 30.

Regarding AP-Transco network, Mr. Vijayanand stated that issues were reported at nine 220 kV substations, four 400 kV substations, and eleven 132 kV substations, and immediate action was taken to resolve all of them.

He appreciated the dedicated round-the-clock efforts of the CMDs of DISCOMs I. Prudhvi Tej, L. Siva Shankar and P. Pulla Reddy, and AP-Genco MD S. Nagalakshmi and AP-Transco Joint MD Surya Sai Praveen Chand and their teams for the preventive and restoration activities executed by them.
