The Secunderabad-bound Vande Bharat Express from Visakhapatnam (Train No. 20833), along with several other trains, were stranded at Khammam, Warangal, Mahabubabad, and other stations on Wednesday (October 29, 2025) morning due to waterlogging at Dornakal station caused by incessant rains triggered by Cyclone Montha.

Some passengers of the Vande Bharat Express, who were scheduled to disembark at Warangal, were transported by RTC buses from Khammam station. According to official sources, railway authorities are monitoring the situation and expect the water to recede, allowing the train to proceed to Secunderabad at a reduced speed.

SCR in coordination with RTC arranged a bus for passengers of Vande Bharat Express at Khammam.

As a result, the ongoing Secunderabad–Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat service is expected to be delayed and is now likely to depart at 8 p.m., instead of its scheduled departure at 3 p.m. In total, 11 trains have been cancelled, another 11 have departed, and around a dozen more have either been cancelled or rescheduled. Passengers are being transported to nearby destinations by bus, officials said.

Among the trains cancelled are: 12714 Secunderabad-Vijayawada; 67768 Vijayawada – Dornakal; 67766 Dornakal – Kazipet; 12748 Vikarabad – Guntur; 07001 Charlapalli – Tirupati; 07002 Tirupati – Cherlapalli; 07251 Cherlapalli – Tiruchanur; 07252 Tiruchanur – Charlapalli; 67215 Vijayawada – Bhadrachalam; 67216 Bhadrachalam – Vijayawada; 17034 Sirpur Town – Bhadrachalam; 17233 Secunderabad – Sirpur Kaghaznagar; 17234 Sirpur Kaghaznagar – Secunderabad; etc

Few other trains like 8189 Tatanagar – Ernakulam; 16031 MGR Chennai Central – SMVD Katra; 16318 SMVD Katra – Kanniyakumari; 20497 Rameswaram – Firozpur; 17406 Adilabad – Tirupati; 12787 Narsapur – Nagarsol; 17205 Shirdi Sainagar – Kakinada Port; 03680 Coimbatore – Dhanbad; 17202 Secunderabad-Guntur; 17405 Tirupati-Adilabad; 12521 Barauni-Ernakulam; 12270 H. Nizamuddin – Chennai Central; 12625 Thiruvananthapuram – New Delhi; 12643 Thiruvananthapuram – H. Nizamuddin and others are being diverted or rescheduled.

An official release stated that due to waterlogging in the Mahabubabad–Dornakal–Khammam section of the Secunderabad division, train services may be subject to change depending on the evolving situation.

How to check train status?

Rail passengers are advised to undertake journeys only if absolutely necessary, considering the prevailing weather conditions, including heavy rains and flash floods. Any changes in train operations — such as cancellations, diversions, or rescheduling — will be communicated via SMS to the mobile numbers provided during ticket booking. Passengers are urged to verify the status of their trains through official sources such as IRCTC, RailOne, NTES, or by calling the railway enquiry number 139 before commencing their journey.
