The Narsapuram coast heaved a sigh of relief after cyclone Montha made its landfall near Narsapuram without causing much major damage in the early hours of Wednesday (October 29, 2025). No human loss has been reported along the Narsapuram coast till 8 a.m. on Wednesday (October 29, 2025), said West Godavari District Collector Chadalavada Nagarani.

Speaking to The Hindu, Ms. Nagarani said, “The Narsapuram coast did not witness any major loss. However, 268 trees, mostly coconut trees, have collapsed by morning. Nearly 100 more trees are believed to have collapsed. The National Disaster Response Force personnel are removing those trees on the roads”.

“As many as eight houses have been damaged. However, no human loss in those incidents along the Narsapuram coast”, said Ms. Nagarani.

The officials have switched off the electricity supply on the 19 routes to avoid any untoward incidents until normalcy prevails. The Narsapuram coast has been witnessing spells of rainfall. Farmers have been told not to resume paddy harvesting until further orders across the Godavari region.

In Narsapuram, two workers who were stranded at an aqua pond have been rescued by the NDRF personnel in the early hours of Wednesday (October 29, 2025).

Calm by the river

In Antarvedi in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, adjacent to Narsapuram, heavy winds coupled with rains were reported. However, no damage has been reported till 8 a.m. on Wednesday (October 29, 2025), according to officials. At Antarvedi, the river Godavari confluences into the Bay of Bengal.

Relief camps continue

Along the Kakinada coast, no rain has been reported over the past few hours. The relief camps will remain open as per the preparedness plan of the Kakinada District authorities. The fisherfolk have been advised not to resume fishing activity.
