Driver killed after truck plunges into gorge in Kerala’s Kannur

A truck driver was killed after the vehicle plunged into a gorge near the Palchuram ashram, near Kottiyoor, Kannur, Kerala, late on Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Senthil Kumar (54), a native of Tamil Nadu.

The incident occurred around 11.30 p.m. when the truck lost control and veered off the road. Another person, Senthil (44), who was accompanying the driver, escaped with minor injuries.

The Fire and Rescue Services personnel and local residents pulled out the victims from the wreckage.

Senthil Kumar was rushed to a hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.

The body has been shifted to the hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.
