Srikanthi Parasuraman, the newly-appointed working president of the PMK, said on Saturday that she would focus on strengthening the party structure and executing the plans of party founder and her father, S. Ramadoss, at the grassroots level.

Speaking to The Hindu, Ms. Parasuraman said she would work as a footsoldier in fulfilling the aspirations of Dr. Ramadoss in party development activities under his guidance. “My first responsibility is to stand in support of him. I will concentrate on strengthening the party’s structure at the grassroots,” she said.

She said she would tour the State and meet party cadre. “Ayya [Dr. Ramadoss] has always given priority to empowerment of women. That is why I have been given the post of working president. I will perform my role in line with his expectations.”

When asked about the ongoing tussle between her father and her brother Anbumani Ramadoss, she said, “Ayya will resolve all issues, and all party workers will eventually rally behind his leadership.”

To a question on the possibility of reuniting with Dr. Anbumani, she said, “It is for them to decide.”

She said all necessary documents with respect to the changes made in the party had been submitted to the Election Commission and it would take a call.

“Beyond the party and its symbol, what matters most is the welfare of the cadre and politics rooted in righteousness,” she said.

When asked about the party’s stand on alliance for the 2026 Assembly election, she said Dr. Ramadoss would take a good decision at the right time.
