The two drivers of the bus that caught fire at Chinna Tekuru in Kurnool district have been taken into custody, police said.

After the incident, the Ulindakonda police registered a case against bus drivers Miryala Lakshmaiah and Gudipati Siva Narayana under Sections 125 (a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS) (carelessly endangering human life or personal safety) and Section 106 of the BNS (causing death by negligence). Sources said the police are likely to take action against the management of the private travels.

Meanwhile, police identified the motorist whose bike collided with the bus as Shivashankar of Praja Nagar in Kurnool city. Shivashankar, who lost life in the incident, used to work at a granite factory and left home on his bike around 7 p.m. on Thursday.

He reportedly told his family members that he would return for dinner and went out. Around 9.30 p.m. they reportedly called Shivashankar who told them he would come back. The family, however, are not sure why Shivashankar was proceeding towards Dhone in the early morning hours.
