Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud will be in New Delhi on Saturday to hold consultations with the Congress high command and finalise the long-pending appointments of District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents.

The issue, pending for several months, has gained momentum after the All India Congress Committee (AICC) undertook an extensive exercise to elicit opinions from grassroots leaders to ensure the selection of the right candidates for each district.

As part of the process, the AICC deployed 22 observers from various States to Telangana. These observers toured the districts for a week, conducted block-level meetings, and gathered feedback on the proposed names for DCC presidents.

Working in coordination with the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), the observers were tasked with recommending suitable candidates for all the districts and four municipal corporations.

Each observer was assisted by four to five TPCC coordinators, including MPs, MLAs, MLCs, municipal chairpersons, and senior party leaders, who helped collect opinions from local leaders. The AICC directed that each district submit three shortlisted names.

The party has barred incumbent DCC presidents from seeking a second term and made relatives of sitting public representatives ineligible. Mr. Mahesh Kumar Goud said that the new DCC presidents would be given enhanced organisational responsibilities and would be invited as special invitees to the Central Election Committee (CEC) meetings.

The observers’ team included senior AICC leaders such as former Chief Minister N. Narayanaswamy, former Union Minister C.P. Joshi, members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), MPs, and MLAs, who have already toured several districts to finalise recommendations.
