The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) bets big in the forthcoming India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, scheduled from October 27 to October 31 in Mumbai as it gears up to highlight Karnataka’ maritime capabilities and other strengths of the Port.

Authority Chairman A.V. Ramana on Thursday (October 24, 2025) told a stakeholders’ meeting that the port would present its sustainable port development initiatives, digital transition pathways and emerging investment opportunities, with MoUs worth approximately ₹53,000 crore expected to be signed during the event.

He said the IMW to be held at Bombay Exhibition Centre stands as one of the country’s most influential maritime platforms, bringing together global leaders, innovators, industry stakeholders, technology developers, policymakers and investors to deliberate on the future of maritime trade, sustainability, digital transformation and coastal economic development. NMPA will participate along with MRPL, HPCL, NTCPWC, NITK and other Port-Led industries from the region.

Mr. Ramana said the event features thematic sessions, CEO roundtables, technology showcases, policy dialogues and strategic networking engagements aimed at accelerating India’s Blue Economy vision. NMPA is the Platinum Sponsor for IMW 2025.

Multiple panels

NMPA will participate in multiple high-level panel discussions led by Mr. Ramana, including Karnataka State Session, “Exploring PPP Synergies for a Sustainable Blue Economy,” to drive sustainable growth across ports, fisheries, coastal infrastructure and marine innovation. He will be a speaker at the Maritime Digitalisation & Future Tech Summit’s Global CEO Roundtable on October 30, where discussions will centre on investment priorities, regulatory enablers, world-class port development, growth in coastal shipping and inland waterways, expansion of shipbuilding and repair capacity, cruise tourism potential, maritime services, skill development and port-led industrialisation.

He will also moderate the GMIS session on cruise and passenger economy, “Sailing into Prosperity: Navigating Opportunities in Cruise and Passenger Mobility,” that delves into coastal cruising prospects, passenger terminal enhancement, leisure tourism infrastructure and global best practices to position India as a competitive cruise destination. It will also explore ROPAX services as an economically viable transport alternative and evaluate river cruise tourism opportunities from both global and Indian perspectives.

Mr. Ramana said Karnataka, with its vibrant coastline and strategic trade linkage, is poised to emerge as a key contributor to India’s maritime growth story, blending economic progress with ocean stewardship.
