The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) has expressed concern over reports of violation of norms by some managements of Higher Educational Institutions in the State.

In a statement on Thursday, the council secretary B. Tirupati Rao said it was observed that some of the colleges and universities were collecting excess fee or refusing admission to students allotted seats under the convener/Government quota, with ulterior motives against the provisions given by the government.

He said there were also reports that some of them were not taking effective measures to prevent or control ragging in or outside the college premises, as required under the guidelines of the Supreme Court and the A.P. Prohibition of Ragging Act. The council’s attention was also drawn to the fact that some managements had not been taking necessary steps to prevent harassment of women in workplaces and educational institutions.

He said individuals facing any such issues were advised to report the matter to the affiliated University concerned, or A.P. Higher Education Regulatory and Monitoring Commission (APHERMC), or The A.P. State Council of Higher Education for corrective measures.
