  • What was Vikrant Massey’s first film?
New Delhi:

Vikrant Massey, in 2025, won a National Award for 12th Fail. He shared the Best Actor award with Shah Rukh Khan, who won it for Jawan. While Vikrant is one of the most bankable actors in the film industry today, he, too, like SRK, started his career with television. He would often play one of the leading actors in TV serials too. This reminds us of a mythological show most 90s kids would watch after school called ‘Dharam Veer’ – remember? On Vikrant’s 38th birthday, let’s revisit his TV days.

Vikrant Massey’s popular TV shows

Vikrant Massey began his television journey with Dhoom Machaao Dhoom in 2007, marking his early presence on youth-oriented shows. In 2008, he appeared in Dharam Veer with Rajat Tokas, further building his footing in television. The show was a huge success. Here’s a video:

Between 2009 and 2010, he became widely recognised for his role in Balika Vadhu, a show that brought him significant attention. He continued with Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo from 2010 to 2011, followed by his participation in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4 in 2011. In 2012, he featured in Gumrah: End of Innocence, adding another notable project to his early television career.

In an earlier conversation on Unfiltered by Samdish, Vikrant looked back at the kind of schedules actors once worked through, and it sounded exhausting. Recalling those days, he said, “Back in the day, artists would shoot for 18-20 hours. There came a time when I had to shoot for 110 hours straight without stopping.”

He also spoke about how the pressure of production often reshaped the scripts themselves. His presence on screen would be stretched simply to keep things moving. “They had no choice but to use me as a filler. Day shifts were melting into night shifts. There was no sense of time. Funnily, when they finally packed up, it wasn’t even for me. An actor who came to the set at 10 am in the morning got upset and walked out by evening,” he said.

What was Vikrant Massey’s first film?

It was in 2013 when Vikrant Massey made his Bollywood debut with Dhurandhar star Ranveer Singh in Lootera (2013). Since then, there has been no looking back for the actor. He has explored several entertainment mediums such as TV, films, short films, reality shows and even the OTT space.

Next, Vikrant Massey was last seen in O Romeo, co-starring Shahid Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Tamannaah Bhatia and Avinash Tiwary. He will be seen next in the Netflix web series Musafir Cafe with Mahima Makwana and Vedika Pinto.
