The Kochi City cyber police have registered a case over an alleged online share trading scam in which a 62-year-old resident of Edappally lost ₹2.14 crore.

The police said the complainant was lured by scammers with promises of higher returns on investment after they contacted him using details that he shared through a link he came across on Facebook.

The complainant reportedly transferred the amount to the accused from four bank accounts between October 30 and December 3. He became suspicious after they did not pay the returns as promised. They also blocked him on phone when he tried to contact hem. He filed the complaint after realising that he was duped.
