Hyderabad will witness the rollout of a major cleft care initiative as global investment institution Lighthouse Canton has partnered with Mission Smile to facilitate 100 free cleft lip palate surgeries across Hyderabad and West Bengal before next month.

Hyderabad will witness 50 free corrective cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries for children and young adults before March under a partnership between global investment institution Lighthouse Canton and healthcare non-profit Mission Smile.

The initiative is being implemented through an outreach centre model at Unicorpus Word and Deed Hospital in Hayatnagar. Patient screening began on February 9, with surgeries commencing from February 10.

According to a release, all selected beneficiaries will receive comprehensive treatment at no cost. The support package covers transportation to and from the hospital, accommodation, meals, pre-surgical medical examinations, the surgical procedure itself, medicines and post-operative follow-up care. Wherever necessary, additional assistance such as psychological counselling and nutritional guidance will also be extended to ensure holistic recovery and long term well-being of patients.
