The Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) conducted a cross country competition for 6/25 Batch of Agniveers here recently.

As one of the toughest endurance sports, cross country race plays a pivotal role in developing mental resilience, physical robustness and mission-ready fitness among young Agniveers.

The enthusiastic participation of 408 Agniveers showcased their determination and the high standards of conditioning and training at the regimental centre.

The event was flagged off by Commandant, MLIRC, Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee at the Shivaji Stadium.

The demanding 10.8-km route covered major landmarks, including MLIRC, RMS Circle, Commando Wing, Angadi College, Mandolli Road and the Baffle Range at Nanawadi, before culminating at the Shivaji Stadium.

During the closing ceremony, Brigardier Joydip Mukherjee presented trophies and medals to the winners.

Burki Company emerged as the champions, securing the winner’s cup, while Saudi Company finished the runner-up.

In the individual category, Recruit Kale Bhagwan Sitaram clinched the gold medal with an impressive timing of 38 minutes 30 seconds, followed by Recruit Powar Omkar Anil (silver) and Recruit Waykule Shriram Pandurang (bronze).

A total of 10 Agniveers were felicitated for their outstanding performance, said a release.
