The police seized 390 kg of gutkha and banned tobacco products, being smuggled in a car, and arrested three persons at Arunkurukkai in Villupuram district on Wednesday.
Following a tip-off, a team was conducting vehicle checks at Arunkurukkai when they intercepted a car from Bengaluru. After a search, the police personnel found 390 kg of gutkha packed in gunny bags in the vehicle and seized them.
The team arrested Shanu, 24, Mohammed Yasin, 45 and Ayan, 19, all hailing from Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh. A case has been registered.
