Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has issued the preliminary notification pertaining to ward delimitation in the corporation on Tuesday by way of an Extraordinary Gazette entry. Final notification will be published after receiving claims and objections from citizens.

In the notification, all the 300 election wards along with the boundaries have been mentioned. The details of boundary descriptions have been placed on the notice boards of all circle, zonal and head office buildings, a note from GHMC informed. The details are also available on the GHMC website ‘www.ghmc.gov.in’, it said.

The residents of GHMC may file suggestions or objections, if any, at the circle, zonal, or head offices of GHMC within seven days.

This may be considered the final step in the process of expansion of GHMC up to the boundaries defined by the Outer Ring Road (ORR). In the run-up to the expansion, the government had first announced merger of village panchayats within the ORR into the nearest urban local bodies concerned, last year in September.

Recently, through another order, seven municipal corporations and 20 municipalities have been integrated with the GHMC, expanding the latter’s jurisdiction. On Monday, it was announced that the expanded GHMC would have 300 wards in place of the existing 150, before the ward names along with the boundaries were spelled out on Tuesday.

Centre for Good Governance played a pivotal role in carrying out an arduous exercise day and night for over one week, holding consultations with all the stakeholders and department heads, towards ward delimitation process.
