171 kgs of ganja seized, two smugglers arrested in Krishna district

In a joint operation, the Hanuman Junction police and the Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) seized 171 kgs of ganja from a van under Athkur police station limits.

The accused, Hanumanthu Durga Prasad, native of Visakhapatnam district, and Syed Mubarak alias Basheer, native of Kolar district, in Karnataka, were smuggling the contraband from Anakapalli to Karnataka, said Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Vidyasagar Naidu.

The team led by Gannavaram Deputy Superintendent of Police Ch. Srinivas, Hanuman Junction CI L. Ramesh, EAGLE Inspector M. Ravi Chandra along with their team confiscated the ganja packed in bags, along with the vehicle. Efforts are on to trace the ganja supplier in Anakapalli district and other accused, the SP said on Saturday.
