Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday (December 13, 2025) pointed out that road projects worth ₹1.50 lakh crore have been approved for Maharashtra for 2026, and work for most of the projects will start in “the next three months”.

During his visit to Vidhan Bhavan, where the State legislature winter session is ongoing in Nagpur, BJP leader Mr. Gadkari in detail briefed the media about the projects approved for Maharashtra.

Citing the projects under Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC), Mr Gadkari said, “The projects worth ₹27,000 crores are approved for MSIDC. They will construct a new Pune-Sambhajinagar expressway for ₹16,318 crore, ₹2,000 crore highway repairs, and a flyover will be constructed connecting Pune-Ahilyanagar-Sambhajinagar, and a new expressway from Pune to Sambhajinagar will reduce the travel time to two hours and from Sambhajinagar to Nagpur in two-and-a-half hours. “

Minister of Road Transport and Highways has also approved the ₹4,207 crore elevated highway project connecting Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur that will have two flyovers above the road and a metro line above the flyover, and another elevated road is from Hadapsar to Yevat for ₹5,262 crores.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will also undertake the Pune-Nashik-Khed expressway roadworks costing around ₹7,000 crores, as per Nagpur MP, Mr Gadkari, who visited the legislature complex to attend the centenary celebration of the Vidhan Parishad.

“The projects worth ₹50,000 crore have been approved for the Pune region,” said Mr Gadkari, adding a parallel expressway costing ₹15,000 crores will be constructed to the existing Pune-Mumbai expressway to cut travel time between the two cities by one and a half hours.

Mr. Gadkari also stated that the road works for the Nagpur region, including the Nagpur-Bhandara section for ₹2,000 crores and the road connecting Challisgaon in Marathwada to Sambhajinagar for ₹2,800 crore.

“In the Annual plan, ₹60,000 crores of work is approved, around ₹50,000 crores of work is given to PWD of corporations,” he added.
