In the wake of the ongoing unrest in Nepal, as many as 215 Telugu people have been identified as stranded in various locations across the strife-torn country. Andhra Pradesh Real Time Governance (RTG) Minister Nara Lokesh is personally overseeing the rescue-and-safety measures.

Owing to unforeseen and concerning developments in Nepal, Mr. Lokesh skipped the National Democratic Alliance’s ‘Super Six Super Hit’ event scheduled in Anantapur on Wednesday (September 10, 2025) to oversee the evacuation of the trapped Telugu families.

According to official information, the stranded citizens are spread across four locations — Bafal – 27 persons under the care of Sridharacharyulu, Similkot – 12 persons with Kari Appa Rao, Mahadev Hotel, Pashupati – 55 persons with Vijaya and Pingalasthan, Gaushala – 90 persons, among others. So far, a total of 215 Telugu people have been traced and officials said the number may rise as more contacts are being established.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has alerted Mr. Naveen Srivastava, Indian Ambassador to Nepal regarding the situation. The embassy is being kept informed to ensure early evacuation and safety arrangements for the stranded citizens.

Minister Nara Lokesh emphasised that the safety of Telugu citizens remains the top priority and assured that coordinated efforts are under way with Central agencies and the Indian embassy to facilitate their rescue at the earliest.

Taking to the social media platform X, Mr. Lokesh tweeted on Wednesday (September 10, 2025) saying” “Today marks a significant milestone for the Andhra Pradesh NDA government as we celebrate the successful fulfilment of our ‘Super 6’ promises. However, at this hour, reports indicate that Telugu citizens are stranded in Nepal amid unrest. In these circumstances, I will not be attending the ‘Super Six – Super Hit’ celebrations in Anantapur. In my capacity as A.P.’s RTG Minister, I will be coordinating rescue-and-support operations to ensure our people are brought to safety at the earliest.”
