A day after the Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the alleged voter fraud in the Aland Assembly constituency, raided the residences of the former BJP MLA, Subhash Guttedar, here on Friday, he alleged that the action was an attempt to divert public attention from developmental issues.

“Aland MLA B.R. Patil’s allegations of voter fraud in Aland constituency are fabricated; the legislator cooked up stories of electoral fraud and met the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. All these strategies were made to appease the Congress high command and get closer to Mr. Gandhi with a motive of securing a ministerial berth,” Mr. Guttedar alleged.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday Mr. Guttedar alleged that several plans had been devised against him in the past. Alleging Mr. Patil and his nephew, R.K. Patil’s involvement in the alleged murder of his close associate, Mahantappa Allure, Mr. Guttedar charged that despite lodging a complaint, the police had failed to conduct a fair investigation.

Dismissing the allegations that burnt voter lists were found outside his residence, Mr. Guttedar maintained that his workers had burnt waste papers while cleaning the house in view of Deepavali.

Replying to a question, Mr. Guttedar said that he would cooperate with the investigation.

He also blamed the State government for the withdrawal of security to him.
