The Congress on Friday (October 17, 2025) demanded a nationwide ban on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) student wing, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), across universities and schools, citing its involvement in multiple incidents of misconduct and violence.
All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba condemned the alleged incident in a government college in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, where three ABVP students were arrested for secretly filming girls while they were changing. “Those shouting ‘Beti Bachao’ are the ones filming their daughters,” Ms. Lamba said, accusing the BJP-backed ABVP of hypocrisy and moral decay.
She also referred to a 2023 Karnataka case in which an ABVP student leader was accused of making obscene videos of female students.
Referring to an alleged rape at Delhi’s South Asian University (SAU) of a first year B.Tech. student by four people including a security guard, Ms Lamba said, “We tell the Prime Minister and Home Minister that such acts will not be tolerated. No amount of cover-up will protect the accused — we will fight this battle at every level.”
NSUI president Varun Choudhary joined her in demanding accountability, citing a recent incident at Delhi University’s B.R. Ambedkar College where a woman ABVP office-bearer allegedly slapped a professor. “The full video is out, yet no action has been taken,” he said.
Mr. Choudhary further recalled the suicide of Kerala IT professional Anandu Aji, who had accused an RSS functionary of sexual assault. The NSUI leader said the Congress demands a thorough probe into all these cases and “strict action against anyone found guilty”.
“The country must be governed by the Constitution, not by the reprehensible ideology of the RSS-ABVP,” Mr. Choudhary said, reiterating the call for a complete ban on the student outfit.
