The Telangana High Court on Wednesday extended the interim order, passed on September 24 suspending the single judge order to re-evaluate Group-I main exam answer scripts, till November 18.

A bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin extended the interim order while hearing the appeal petitions filed by the TGPSC challenging the single judge order. The bench directed the counsels of the ‘unsuccessful candidates’ to file their counter affidavits by November 18.

The unsuccessful candidates initially filed writ petitions seeking a direction to cancel the Group-I main exam citing different grounds like more number of candidates getting selected from select centres and the TGPSC giving different hall ticket numbers for preliminary and main exams. The single judge, pronouncing verdict, set aside the Final Marks List and the General Ranking List of the selected candidates.

The single judge also instructed the TGPSC to re-conduct the mains exams if re-evaluation of mains answer sheets cannot be undertaken. This order of the single bench was set aside by the division bench headed by the CJ. The unsuccessful candidates moved the Supreme Court questioning the division bench order. But the apex court remanded the matter back to Telangana HC.
