The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday (October 14, 2025) accused the Congress of hypocrisy, stating that it was ironic that a party that had created “divisions” in the society and had “shown leniency towards the perpetrators of terrorism” was casting aspersions on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Referring to the use of “abusive language” against the RSS by Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge, the son of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, BJP MP and spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said it was the “biggest irony” that the Congress was attempting to lecture the RSS, an organisation that worked for the upliftment of deprived sections of society.

“He (Priyank Kharge) is among many Congress leaders who use abusive language against the RSS. I want to ask him: which is the largest organisation in the country that works in Dalit colonies? It is Seva Bharati, which is affiliated with the RSS. Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, which selflessly works for the welfare of tribals, is also associated with the RSS,” he told reporters.

Pointing out that around two lakh Ekal Vidyalayas are being run for tribal children in remote areas where it is not possible for others to set up schools, he asked: “How many organisations associated with you (Congress) are working in these areas?”

Mr. Trivedi said it was “ridiculous” that the Congress, which had a “secret pact” with the SDPI in the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections to keep the BJP out of power, and whose Prime Minister once said that “minorities, particularly Muslims, should have the first right over the national resources of India”, was now giving lectures to the RSS on social and communal harmony.

He also accused the Congress government in Karnataka of giving reservations to Muslim castes through the backdoor and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to grant constitutional status to the backward classes commission.
