The State Government has relaxed certain norms under the Tamil Nadu Combined Development and Building Rules, 2019, to benefit green and white category industries in peri-urban village panchayat and village panchayat areas across the State.

As per the fresh amendments to the Tamil Nadu Combined Development and Building Rules, 2019, the minimum road width for green and white category industries in peri-urban village panchayat and village panchayat areas has been reduced from 7 metres to 6 metres.

However, the minimum road width required for all categories — including the green and white category industries located in corporation/municipality/town panchayat areas — would continue to be 7 metres, according to the G.O. issued by the Housing and Urban Development Department.

Even in peri-urban village panchayat or village panchayat areas, the minimum road width for orange and red category industries would continue to be 7 metres. The order benefiting green, white category industries in peri-urban village panchayat areas was issued last week.

The normally permissible Floor Space Index (FSI) for all these categories, i.e., white, green, orange and red industries would be two. Earlier this year, the Tamil Nadu Government expanded the list of white industries and listed 609 industries as white category industries.
