Kerala Women’s Commission to organise face-to-face sessions on women empowerment

The Kerala Women’s Commission will organise a face-to-face programme aimed at empowering women in all sectors.

The three-day programme will begin at the district panchayat hall here on Monday, and will spread the word on the various programmes rolled out by the government for women and children, commission chairperson P. Satheedevi said.

The programme will also act as a platform to receive new ideas. The commission will also submit recommendations to the government on how to address problems of women in various sectors.

On the first day, representatives of voluntary organisations affiliated with the commission and women facilitators will take part in a session on ‘women empowerment in the future.’ Minister for Women and Child Development Veena George will inaugurate the session at 10 a.m. Public prosecutor T. Ginakumari will present the topic.

Minister for Local Self-Governments M.B. Rajesh will inaugurate the second day’s face-to-face on ‘Novel Kudumbashree enterprises – possibilities, review’ on Tuesday. The programme will discuss the new employment opportunities created by the Kudumbashree auxiliary groups formed for social, cultural, and livelihood improvement of young women.

The programme on Wednesday will focus on ‘Women empowerment through responsible tourism.’ Minister for Tourism P.A. Mohamed Riyas will inaugurate the discussion that will focus on tapping into new possibilities opening up in the responsible tourism sector. Kerala Responsible Tourism Mission Society chief executive officer Rupesh Kumar will present the topic. Tourism clubs, women entrepreneurs in the responsible tourism sector, and students’ groups will attend the programme.

District panchayat president D. Suresh Kumar will be the chief guest.
