Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Saturday said that the State government would not denotify the land earmarked for the Bengaluru Business Corridor (BBC), formerly known as the Peripheral Ring Road.

Mr. Shivakumar made this statement while listing various developmental projects undertaken to decongest the city during the ‘Walk with Bengaluru’ initiative in Lalbagh on Saturday.

He emphasised that the corridor is crucial for easing traffic in Bengaluru, as it will help restrict the movement of heavy vehicles inside the city.

“Many farmers are ready to give up their land, but a few are still unwilling. However, I will not denotify the land,” Mr. Shivakumar said. He explained that the government has offered them options such as Transferable Development Rights (TDR), Floor Area Ratio (FAR), residential plots, and commercial spaces.

“Although these options are not included in the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) Act, we are still extending these benefits,” he added. Mr. Shivakumar said the matter would be discussed in the upcoming Cabinet meeting.

Meanwhile, most farmers are demanding either a fresh notification or compensation based on the 2025 market value of nearby lands.
