A march taken out by the BJP to the district Collectorate here on Thursday in protest against the alleged theft of gold from Sabarimala ended in a clash with the police.

Several BJP workers were suffered minor injuries in police lathicharge. The police also used water cannon to disperse the marchers.

BJP State vice-president B. Gopalakrishnan and Palakkad east district president Prasanth Sivan led the march. Mahila Morcha workers too joined the protest by raising Ayyappa slogans.

Mr. Gopalakrishnan inaugurated the march. He said temples, including Sabarimala, belonged to Hindus. He alleged that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was the prime accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case.

He demanded that the Chief Minister should relinquish the Home Department and the Devaswom board should be dissolved.
