AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Monday said the AIADMK was a party of the masses and a fortress built with the strong cadre base and no force could destabilise it.

“Numerous attempts were made to destroy the party on many occasions. They could not succeed,” Mr. Palaniswami said after unveiling a 126-foot-tall party flag pole at Thirukoyilur in Kallakurichi district.

Hitting at Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for his remark that the AIADMK would be in the ICU soon, Mr. Palaniswami urged Mr. Udhayanidhi to exercise restraint over his language, adding that the people of the State would send the DMK in an ambulance after the 2026 election.

Stating that the AIADMK was strong and that it was only the Chief Minister M.K. Stalin who was going on foreign visits often, the AIADMK leader urged Mr. Udhayanidhi to clear the mystery behind the CM’s frequent foreign trips.

Claiming that the DMK was on a ventilator support and had only seven more months, Mr. Palaniswami said the people would put an end to the party after the 2026 election.

Mr. Palanisawami further said the 2026 Assembly poll was a chance to the people to put an end to the “dynastic rule” of the DMK whose model of governance had proved to be a failure.

Citing the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy, which claimed 68 lives, he said justice was yet to be done to the families and pointed out that those behind the incident would be brought to book after the AIADMK returned to power.
