Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar said there was no question of allowing illegal migrants to exercise their voting rights.

He warned that if the Congress continued to oppose the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the National Register of Citizens (NRC) would also be introduced to identify and deport illegal immigrants.

He made these remarks while addressing a public meeting in Nirmal on Tuesday.

Earlier, the BJP organised a ‘Maha Padayatra’ in Nirmal as part of its ‘Save Democracy – Remove Anarchy’ campaign to counter the Congress’s ‘Vote Chori’ narrative.

BJP State in-charge Sunil Bansal, State president N. Ramchander Rao, BJP Legislature Party (BJLP) leader and Nirmal MLA A. Maheshwar Reddy, and MPs Godem Nagesh, Etala Rajender, among others participated in the Maha Padayatra.

Mr. Sanjay slammed Congress leaders, accusing them of spearheading a misinformation campaign against the SIR in New Delhi while leaving pressing issues concerning farmers, unemployed youth and pensioners in Telangana unaddressed.

Mr. Ramchander Rao alleged that the Congress was spreading a false narrative against the Narendra Modi government, which he described as corruption-free and transparent, with the aim of destabilising it.

He called upon BJP cadres to counter what he termed the Congress’s misinformation campaign against the SIR.

He also expressed confidence that the BJP would come to power in Telangana in the next Assembly elections.
