The Chickballapur Lokayukta police on Monday caught a Second Division Assistant (SDA) attached to the City Municipal Council (CMC), Sidlaghatta, and a former Councillor while they were allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 during a trap laid in connection with the registration of a Pauti Khatha.

The accused have been identified as Nagaraja, SDA at the Sidlaghatta CMC, and Moula, a former Councillor of the municipal council.

According to the Lokayukta police, the complainant, Ms. Asma, a homemaker and resident of Sidlaghatta town, had approached the accused for the registration of a Pauti Khatha. The accused allegedly demanded ₹50,000 to facilitate the work.

Following her complaint, the Lokayukta police registered a case under Sections 7(a) and 7-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Lokayukta police subsequently laid a trap and allegedly caught the accused accepting ₹25,000. Both were secured by the officials. Further investigation is underway.
