Officials of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the Vigilance and Enforcement Departments conducted raids on a wholesale dry fruit supplier in Gollapudi and seized a large quantity of expired stock.
The raids, carried out on Tuesday following the directions of the Regional Vigilance and Enforcement Officer and the Commissioner of Food Safety, targeted G.M. Food Products. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Assistant Food Controller (Krishna and NTR districts) B. Srinivas, Food Inspector Ravindra Reddy, and Vigilance Inspector Umer inspected the premises and seized outdated products.
“We have seized packets of strawberry milk flavour, pista milk flavour, and glaze gel, all worth about ₹1.55 lakh, from the dry fruit shop,” Mr. Srinivas told The Hindu on Wednesday. A case under Section 58 of the FSSAI Act, 2006, has been registered against the shop owner, and samples were collected for analysis, the Assistant Food Controller said. “The seized stocks will be destroyed after they are produced in the Joint Collector’s court,” Mr. Srinivas added.
