With the State government extending the deadline, officers are confident of enumerators achieving the social and educational survey target in most districts in the next two-three days.

In Belagavi, the State government has identified 11.85 lakh families and deputed around 10,000 enumerators. The average target per enumerator is around 120 families per day.

Social Welfare and Education department officials now say that enumerators have successfully completed the survey of 10.26 lakh families or achieved about 86% of the target.

“As many as 11.85 lakh families have been identified in the district for the survey. Out of these, survey of 10.26 lakh families (86%) has been completed till 7 p.m. on Monday,” Deputy Director of Social Welfare Department S. Harsha has said.

“The survey is expected to be completed in three or four days,” he added.

Officers in Vijayapura district said that nearly 75% of targeted families have been surveyed. “In rural areas, it is around 85%-90%, while in urban areas it is around 60%-70%. There have been some errors in identifying dwelling blocks in urban areas. Personnel who were tasked with identification of houses have wrongly marked abandoned houses, commercial establishments and inflated the number of houses that have more than one electric meter. Officers are removing such listings as additional and handing out a slimmer list of houses to urban enumerators,” a Social Welfare officer said.

“The State government has extended the Dasara holidays, allowing teachers to work freely. It will ensure that the target can be met easily,” president of Vijayapura Primary School Teachers Association Arun Lamani said.
