A complaint has been lodged with the Bengaluru International Airport police alleging that a group of people arrived at Terminal 2 of the Kempegowda International Airport from Singapore, carrying counterfeit cigarettes bearing the branding of ITC and foreign cigarette brands, with the intention of distributing them across different States.

Srinivas S., a manager at a private firm, lodged the complaint on behalf of the company, which holds the agency for ITC cigarettes and distributes the products across Karnataka.

According to the complaint, the suspects arrived on October 11. Claiming to have received credible information about the alleged activity, Srinivas requested the police to take action against those involved in manufacturing, transporting and distributing counterfeit cigarettes using the company’s brand name.

The complaint stated that the sale of counterfeit cigarettes could pose a risk to public health and damage the reputation of the company’s brands.
