The Odisha Cabinet on Tuesday passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years of uninterrupted service in public life, during which the country and his home State have undergone a transformative transition.

The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi discussed Mr. Modi’s contribution to country as well as Odisha ever since he assumed charge of prime minister since 2014.

Congratulating the PM on behalf of State Cabinet, Mr. Majhi said, “under Modiji’s leadership, today’s India has become a completely transformed and new India compared with the India that existed before 2014. In every initiative, Modi Ji has consistently followed the principle of India First.”

“Modiji’s leadership demonstrates the courage to confront extraordinary challenges directly. Whether it was the COVID-19 pandemic, terrorist activities, or geopolitical instability arising across the world due to wars, he has demonstrated firm political and administrative leadership in every situation and kept the country secure. Amid the instability witnessed across the world, he has been able to keep India’s economy safe and strong,” he pointed out.

“Today, development and public services are reaching the people at the very last rung of society, in keeping with the principle of Antyodaya. During his 12-year tenure, more than 25 crore people have been lifted out of multidimensional poverty,” said Odisha CM.

“Since our government was formed in Odisha, the PM has visited the State eight times, taking initiatives and offering guidance to accelerate the State’s development process. Odisha is receiving the full support of the Central government in infrastructure development, industrialisation, education, healthcare, technology and programmes for the welfare of the poor. Odisha occupies a central place in the Prime Minister’s vision of Purvodaya,” added Mr. Majhi.

Listing Centre’s contribution in Odisha development during Mr. Modi’s tenure, he elaborated, “since 2014, 2,236 kilometres of new railway lines have been constructed in Odisha, and the State has achieved 100% railway electrification. Six Vande Bharat trains connect 17 districts through 25 stops in Odisha. In addition, 59 railway stations are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.”

“In addition, approval has been granted for the construction of a deep-sea port at the Bahuda estuary in Ganjam, involving an investment of ₹21,500 crore, and a shipbuilding and ship-repair cluster in Kendrapara district, involving an investment of ₹24,700 crore,” said Odisha CM.
