Taking exception to the delay in payment of wages under the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Gramin (VB-G RAM G) scheme, RDPR Minister B. Eshwar Khandre has ordered the issue of show-cause notices to the officials concerned.

The Minister has instructed authorities to issue show-cause notices to 308 Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs), 12 deputy secretaries and 74 taluk panchayat executive officers for the delay in payment of wages.

The Minister expressed displeasure over the delay in payment of wages in 311 village panchayats across 12 districts, despite having issued written instructions to the CEOs of the 12 Zilla Panchayats that PDOs concerned would be held responsible if beneficiaries did not receive wages within 15 days of completing the work.

According to an official communique, the Minister expressed concern over the apathetic attitude of officials towards wage payments despite the government releasing the necessary funds, resulting in people migrating in search of jobs.

The Minister instructed the Secretary of the department and CEOs of all 12 Zilla Panchayats to ensure that such lapses do not recur.

The Minister said the State government had implemented the VB-G RAM G scheme by releasing the necessary funds to help farmers in distress during drought particularly those belonging to the poor class, Dalits and Backward Classes though it had resulted in a financial burden as the Centre had changed the fund sharing proportion between the centre and the state from the earlier 90:10 to 60 :10 now.
