Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal was detained by the Delhi Police outside his house in Lodhi Estate on Saturday (October 10, 2026) when he was on his way to join the protest at Jantar Mantar.

In a video shared by Mr. Kejriwal on X, he was seen inside a bus alongside AAP MP Sanjay Jha. He urged the people to come out in large numbers and support the protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The former Delhi Chief Minister earlier in the day slammed the Centre over the “worse than Emergency” security clampdown in central Delhi to thwart the protest and the detention of the outfit’s top leadership.

“Three-time Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal brutally taken into custody by Delhi Police, for demanding Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. Modi Ji: how many people will you put behind bars to save Gyanesh Kumar?” Atishi Marlena, a senior AAP leader said in a post on X.

On Friday (October 9), Mr. Kejriwal had said he and his family will attend the protest and urged youngsters to join the demonstration demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the alleged “vote theft”.

Following the detention of CJP leaders on Saturday morning (October 10), Mr. Kejriwal said that by arresting “cockroaches” on their flight, Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed that he is “scared”.
