Ahead of October 23 State Legislative Council elections for eight seats in which ruling BJP and JD(U) are contesting on four seats each, the NDA coalition partners on Friday (October 9, 2026) held a meeting of party MLAs, MPs and leaders at Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s official residence 1, Anne Marg to chalk out strategies for the poll.

The NDA leaders including the party MLA from Mokama Anant Singh, met and are said to have formulated a unified strategy to bag all the eight seats going to poll October 23 and for which the results will be announced on October 27. Besides, BJP and JD(U), the ruling NDA has three other coalition partners in Bihar — Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha of Upendra Kushwaha.

Earlier, three out of total four RLM MLAs had been fielded and announced their support to a separate candidate Ram Pukar Sinha from Saran Teachers constituency against NDA’s official candidate Anand Pushkar from JD(U). The fourth party MLA is Snehlata Kushwaha, wife of party chief Upendra Kushwaha. The rest three MLAs Rameshwar Mahato, Madhav Anand and Alok Kumar Singh are said to have rebelled against the party but had asserted, earlier, that they would remain a “part of BJP-led NDA”. “We’ll sort out the differences between party leaders…the parties top leadership are aware of the issue ”, a senior JD-U leader told media persons.

Bihar State BJP president Sanjay Saraogi, JD(U) national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha, party general secretary Shyam Rajak along with several leaders, MLAs, and MLCs of five ruling NDA constituents were present in the meeting.
