Woman killed, another injured after branch of roadside tree falls on them

A 23-year-old woman was killed and another man sustained injuries after a branch of a roadside tree fell on them on Hesaraghatta road on Sunday evening.

The incident took place near the Soladevanahalli police station at around 8 p.m.

The deceased has been identified as Keerthana, 23, a resident of Hebbal. The injured, Bhaskar, was undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

According to the police, Keerthana was riding pillion with her friend on a two-wheeler and was heading home after watching a cricket match at Acharya College Grounds. A branch of a roadside tree fell on the two riders, killing Keerthana on the spot, while her friend escaped unhurt. Meanwhile, another rider, Bhaskar, who was passing by sustained severe injuries.

The police said that an unnatural death report will be registered.
