Youth booked for sexually assaulting 17-year-old on promise of marriage

A 22-year-old youngster has been accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl on three occasions after allegedly gaining her trust by promising to marry her, according to a complaint filed by the girl’s aunt. The Jeedimetla police booked a case.

The girl, a class IX student and a native of Andhra Pradesh, occasionally stayed with her grandparents in Jeedimetla. According to the complaint, she came into contact with the accused, Madhu, who worked at a bakery in the locality, about a year ago when she was visiting the area for a festival.

Madhu, a resident of Chintal, allegedly made promises of love and marriage and subsequently remained in frequent contact with the girl over the phone. The two also allegedly met occasionally when she visited Jeedimetla.

According to the complaint, Madhu called the girl to his house in March, May and June this year on the pretext of speaking to her. On each occasion, when no one else was present at the house, he allegedly sexually assaulted her despite her reluctance, after assuring her that he would marry her.

The alleged assaults came to light recently when the girl’s aunt checked her phone and became suspicious of her conversations with Madhu. The girl was initially hesitant to speak out due to fear but later disclosed the alleged incidents to her aunt, the complaint stated.

The complainant subsequently approached the police and sought legal action against Madhu, who was arrrested. Further investigation is underway.
