The Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department has constituted a vision group, consisting of seven members, for making recommendations for undertaking development of infrastructure at 34,165 ‘C’ category historical and ancient temples in the State.

The seven-member group consists members from diverse backgrounds, including K.E. Radhakrishna (educationist), K.C. Ramamurthy (former MP), and Shankuntala Shetty (former MLA).

The State Budget for 2024-25 announced the constitution of the vision group to provide basic facilities to ‘C’ category historical temples without any income.

Minister for Transport and Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department Ramalinga Reddy said the vision group would suggest to the department type of infrastructure required at temples which are in a dilapidated condition.

Collecting funds

The group will also suggest ways and means to collect funds from donors for the renovation of temples, preparing a plan for renovation without destroying the basic structure of the temple, mobilising funds under the CSR from various companies, and establishing coordination among various departments.
