The District Collector has called for arrangements to relocate people, if required, from the Kalladi-Anakkampoyil tunnel construction site, Mundakkai-Chooralmala disaster-affected area, and other locations that are threatened by landslides.

In view of the alert issued by the India Meteorological department about the possibility of heavy rainfall in Wayanad, District Collector V. Chelsasini, who is the Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, has ordered the suspension of operations in quarries, adventure tourism centres, and trekking sites to ensure public safety.
If it becomes necessary to relocate people from disaster-prone or vulnerable areas in the district, the respective grama panchayat secretaries must take the required steps. Similarly, if families residing in areas near the township construction site at Elston Estate in Kalpetta are threatened by soil erosion need to be relocated, the Kalpetta municipal secretary must take steps in coordination with the township’s chief operating officer.
The District Collector has ordered the secretary of Meppadi grama panchayat to make arrangements for relocating people, if required, from the Kalladi-Anakkampoyil tunnel construction site, Mundakkai-Chooralmala disaster-affected area, and other locations within the Meppadi grama panchayat that are threatened by landslides. The Collector said that penal action would be taken under Section 51(b) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, against those who violate the order.
