Raichur DC directs officials to ensure compensation for SC and ST victims of atrocities

Raichur Deputy Commissioner Nitish K. has told officials to take action to release compensation to family members of victims of atrocity, as the majority of them don’t even know that they are entitled to compensation according to the rules of the government of Karnataka.

Chairing the District Level Awareness and Monitoring Committee for Control of Atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Raichur on October 4, the DC said that the family members of victims who belong to the SC and ST community are entitled to compensation and a government job on proving atrocities. “Officers should approach such families and collect the required documents to complete the necessary legal formalities, and also draw the attention of committee members if there is any delay in submitting the charge sheet by the jurisdictional police for further action,” he added.

Mr. Nitish gave a month’s deadline to officials to submit a detailed report to the regional commissioner on atrocities against SCs and STs.

The DC directed officials to create awareness about the cash benefit of ₹3 lakh to construct a house in an identified residential areas on the outskirts of Raichur city.

He specifically directed officials to construct a compound wall surrounding graveyards to protect them from encroachments when the issue was raised by members.

The Deputy Commissioner warned of legal action against those who obtain fake caste certificates to get government jobs.

Superintendent of Police G. Puttamadaiah, Corporation Commissioner Jubin Mohapatra, IAS (Probationary) Officer Pururaj Singh, Ravindra Jaldar, K.E. Kumar, Hemraj Askihal, Ravikumar Askihal, Raghuveer Naik, Pawan Kishor Patil, Basavaraj, T. Sudhama and others were present.
