Krishna Mukerji, Rani Mukerji’s mother, died at the age of 75 on Tuesday afternoon. Several prominent names from the film industry, including Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, Karan Johar and others, arrived at the funeral to offer their condolences.
The news of her demise was confirmed by Aditya Chopra’s production banner, Yash Raj Films. The family has requested privacy as they grieve the loss. However, the cause of death has not been revealed yet. Pictures and videos from the crematorium have surfaced online, showing celebrities from the film industry arriving to pay their respects.

Actress Juhi Chawla expressed her grief over the demise of Krishna Mukerji and took to X to share her condolences. She wrote, “My heart goes out to Rani on the loss of her mother, Mrs. Krishna Mukerji. Sending Rani and her entire family much love, strength and prayers. Om shanti.”
Rani Mukerji’s mother Krishna Mukerji dies at 75
Krishna Mukerji, mother of actress Rani Mukerji, breathed her last on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. She was a known playback singer who lent her voice to several tracks for films such as Haiwan and Teesri Aankh. She married filmmaker Ram Mukerji in 1972, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Rani Mukerji, in March 1978. Ram Mukerji passed away in 2017.
A statement from Yash Raj Films confirming the news of Rani Mukerji’s mother’s demise read, “With heavy hearts, we share that Rani Mukerji’s mother, Mrs Krishna Mukerji, 75, died this afternoon. The family is deeply grateful for your love, prayers, and support, and respectfully requests privacy during this time of immense grief.”
For the unversed, Krishna Mukerji is survived by her children, actress Rani Mukerji and producer Raja Mukerji.
